Hmmm…interesting question. I honestly have no idea. Perhaps, take them out of your house and feed them…or give them to a non-Jewish friend over Pesach.

The fish are not Jewish. Or any religious tradition for that matter. As long as you’re not eating verboten food, then I don’t the problem.

It depends on what species of cichlids you have in your tank. Some are herbivores; they eat only vegetable based food, ie., algae and plants. Some cichlids are carniverous; they thrive on smaller fish, insects and other animals. Many cichlids are omnivorous; you can give them both meat and vegetable matter. Check with your fish store regarding your options if you’re not sure what category your fish fall into.
Unless they are herbivores, feed them bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, etc. My local pet shop carries these in frozen variety packages with several rows of little blocks. Of course, you must check the ingredients to be sure that there are no fillers added!

I recommend contacting a local Orthodox rabbi with your specific questions. (He’s used to questions of all types before Passover, so don’t hesitate to call.)
    Chag Kasher veSameach!
